Outline
The Glencore Coal Scholarship aims to encourage and assist a student to undertake a degree in Mining Engineering offered by the UNSW School of Mining Engineering.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must
- Be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident (including Humanitarian) visa holders; and
- Be enrolled full-time in their 1st or 2nd year of undergraduate study (single or dual degree) in the Bachelor of Mining Engineering offered by the School of Mining Engineering, at the UNSW Kensington Campus.
Applicants must provide a copy of their CV and their latest academic transcript when applying for this scholarship.
Selection
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
- Academic merit (it is expected that the recipient will have a minimum WAM of 65)
- Aptitude and commitment to mining engineering studies
- An interest in undertaking work experience with Glencore Coal
- Personal qualities, (for example, extra-curricula activities, evidence of leadership skills and potential to contribute to the wider life of the University).
Preference may be given applicants in receipt of means-tested Centrelink Benefits, such as ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance, or Austudy.
Interviews
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend an interview.
