Outline

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and support students undertaking the new 2015 Master Programs of Translation and Interpreting (commencing semester 1 2016).

Its purpose is to:

  • Recruit and support students of high academic standard and professional potential to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to be competitive on the global market
  • Increase the number of high achieving students and diversity of languages in our PG program
  • Encourage high achieving students to study Interpreting and/or Translation in order to join the international and domestic professional community
  • Adhere to the UNSW 2014-18 priority goals of graduating ‘professionals capable of ethical self-directed practice and independent life-long learning; global citizens who are culturally adept and capable of respecting diversity, and acting in socially just and responsible manner.’ (UNSW Learning and Teaching Strategy 2014-18)

Eligibility

  • Applicant for the Master of Translation (8203), Master of Interpreting (8208) or Master of Interpreting and Translation (8204).

Selection

Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • UG degree in any relevant discipline with Distinction average or equivalent
  • Languages: any of the languages offered in the Master programs of Translation and/or Interpreting
  • Demonstrated bilingual proficiency in LOTE and English (i.e., High Distinction in the UG LOTE results and/or minimum IELTS 7 or equivalent)

Interviews
