Outline
The scholarship is provided for an Australian Indigenous student to reside on campus preferably at Baxter College.
Where the successful applicant is eligible for Abstudy and can access the Residential Cost Option to cover college accommodation fees, the scholarship will provide a stipend up to $7000 pa to assist with living costs.
The scholarship cannot be deferred.
Recipients may be invited to attend ITNewcom business events or functions, or undertake other voluntary activities. These events will not interfere with study commitments.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be an Australian Indigenous student who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
- Be undertaking full-time studies in any year of undergraduate degree program in at UNSW in one of the following Faculties: Law, Business, Built Environment, Engineering and Medicine;
- Have been offered a place at Kensington Colleges, preferably Baxter College, UNSW;
- Provide details of their Abstudy entitlements if applicable.
Selection
- Each applicant will be assessed on the basis of academic merit, aptitude and commitment to the course proposed, leadership potential, and diversity of interests.
- In addition to the standard application process for UNSW Scholarships, applicants will need to provide 2 written references, from referees that are not related to the applicant.
Interviews
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend an interview.
