Outline

The purpose of this Scholarship is to encourage and support an undergraduate student studying in UNSW. Application is made through the University Admissions Centre (UAC) Equity Scholarships in addition to UNSW Scholarships. The Magnitude Foundation Scholarship will have a cash value of $10,000 per year for the normal duration of the recipient’s (Scholar) undergraduate degree program.

An integral part of the Magnitude Foundation Scholarship is the provision by the Magnitude Foundation of the following additional services to the Scholar:

A mentor who is a leader in the relevant chosen field (a minimum of 1.5 hours on average per academic month).

A leadership development program (minimum of 1.5 hours on average per academic month).

Opportunities for voluntary service in the Scholar’s chosen field of study (minimum 40 hours per year)

Eligibility


Applicants for the Magnitude Foundation Scholarship must:.

Be under 21 years of age (on 1 February 2016).

Have completed the HSC (or interstate equivalent) or International Baccalaureate .

Have applied for an undergraduate degree at UNSW commencing Semester 1 of the year in which the scholarship will be awarded..

Demonstrate financial hardship. Applicants must demonstrate their financial circumstances through either:

  • receipt of a Centrelink (or other Commonwealth) means-tested income support payment (such as Austudy, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance etc),

    or

  • by providing comprehensive information demonstrating exceptional financial hardship, with supporting documentation.

    Selection

    Selection will be based on:

    • Academic Merit. As an indicator, the expected level of academic achievement would be an ATAR of 95 (or equivalent).
  • Passion for their chosen field of study.
  • Aspiring to use their education and the training provided by UNSW and the Magnitude Foundation to deliver real benefit to humankind in their chosen field. Contribution to a meaningful form of voluntary service. Interview performance.

    Interviews

    Short-listed candidates will be requested to attend an interview on FRIDAY 4 MARCH 2016.
