Outline

The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide talented high achieving students from rural, regional and remote areas of New South Wales with the opportunity to study a business degree at UNSW.

Application Process

This scholarship is included in the Business School Rural Scholarships Common Application. In order to be potentially considered for this scholarship please apply via the advertisement for the Business School Rural Scholarships(UGCA1706)

Eligibility

The recipient must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study (in any single or dual degree) in the UNSW Business School.
  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, OR
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period, OR
  • Have successfully completed the UNSW Foundation Studies program in one of the Commerce streams below, and are intending to enrol in the UNSW Business School:
    • Commerce - for students intending to study Business, Accounting, Economics and Arts.
    • Commerce Actuarial - for students with higher mathematical ability and intending to study Actuarial Studies.
  • Must be from rural, regional or remote areas of Australia and that the family home must be, or must have been, located in a rural, regional or remote area for at least four (4) of the applicant's high school years. Australian Governments definition of rural, regional and remote - Doctor Connect
  • Selection

    Each applicant will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

    • Academic Merit
    • Commitment to program of study
    • Contributions to their school and wider community through activities such as sport, volunteer service, community groups or cultural activities
    • Personal qualities (for example communication skills, evidence of leadership skills and/or teamwork, involvement in extra-curricular activities)

    Interviews

    Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend an interview
