Outline
The Sisters of Charity Foundation Scholarship aims to encourage and support young people who have lived in out-of-home care and demonstrate financial need.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be Australian Citizens or Australian Permanent Residents; and
- Must have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent); or IB either:
- in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
- in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and
- Must have applied through UAC for the Educational Access Scheme (EAS); and
- Be enrolled in their first year of full-time undergraduate study (single or dual*) in semester 1 2017.
* Enrolment in a dual degree in combination with one of these two degrees is also permissible, but the tenure of the scholarship will remain at a maximum of four years.
Selection
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
- Their ability to demonstrate that they have lived in out-of-home care; and
- Demonstrated financial hardship or be in receipt of means tested Centrelink income support payment.
To be considered for this Scholarship, applicants must complete Part 1 and Part 2 of the application process.
Part 1: Apply and submit a UAC Educational Access Scheme application by Friday 6 January 2017. Applicants must claim and be able to demonstrate H03C**; and
Part 2: Complete the UNSW Scholarships Application form, by Friday 31st March 2017.
** H03C - Applicant has "excessive responsibility for care of self, while living independently, with no family or partner support, during Year 11 and/or Year 12 or equivalent."
Interviews
Interviews are not required for this Scholarship.
