Outline

The 2023 General Merit Undergraduate Scholarships application is open for recent High School Leavers commencing any undergraduate coursework degree program in Term 1, 2023, who seek to use their academic, leadership and community engagement experience to make a positive contribution to UNSW.

By applying for the 2023 General Merit Undergraduate Scholarships, you may be considered for the following scholarships. More scholarships may be added to this list progressively:

Scholarship Value and Duration Additional Criteria
UNSW All-Rounder Scholarship (UGCE1153)

$5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study at UNSW (includes Bachelor of Medicine/Doctor of Medicine)
Jillian Segal Scientia Scholarship (UGCA1619)

$12,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study at UNSW (includes Bachelor of Medicine/Doctor of Medicine)
  • Must achieve an ATAR score of 99.95 in an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (or an equivalent assessable international senior secondary qualification)

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident (including Humanitarian Visa Holders) or New Zealand Citizen
  • Have applied for admission to a UNSW undergraduate degree program commencing Term 1, 2023 (via UAC or by any other UNSW admissions scheme)
  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in an eligible degree program

Selection

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic merit
  • School and community leadership roles
  • Commitment to extra-curricular activities (such as music, sport, debating, leadership programs, community and volunteer work etc)
  • Aptitude and commitment to study at UNSW

You must provide evidence supporting the above criteria in your online application. Please refer to the Scholarship Application Supporting Documents for a detailed list of examples.

Unanswered application questions or claims without supporting documentation will not be assessed. Late applications/supporting documentation will not be accepted.

Applications close 11:59PM AEST, 30 September 2022.

UNSW reserves the right not to award a scholarship, where there is no applicant of sufficient merit, or if the applicant does not meet the scholarship eligibility and/or selection criteria.
