Outline
The NSW Chinese Community Award at UNSW has been established to foster better understanding of ethnic affairs, including Aboriginal issues, as they affect Australian society.
The NSW Chinese Foundation was established in 1991 as a board based charitable organisation with the purpose of providing assistance to the community at large.
The award aims to assist postgraduate students. However, where there are no suitable applicant, the Scholarship may be offered to an undergraduate student. It is envisaged that the award will encourage study in any field that seeks to provide an understanding of issues relating to ethinic affairs, including Aboriginal issues in Australia.
Eligibility
Recipients must be:
- Undertaking full-time study at UNSW.
- Clearly demonstrate their wish to give back to society and their aspiration to contribute to the betterment of society without particular regard for their own personal or commercial gain.
- Local and International students are welcome to apply
Preference will be given to postgraduate students.
Selection
Selection will be based on:
- Academic merit; and
- A written submission outlining the reasons for undertaking the program of study and the applicant's proposed contribution to ethnic affairs issues in Australia.
Interviews
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend for an interview.
