Outline
This high school leaver scholarship is part of the UNSW Faculty of Engineering Rural Scholarships Program. It is for students from rural and isolated areas to undertake a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering at UNSW.
Recipients may be invited to participate in 10-12 weeks of industrial experience with WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff on an annual basis over the summer vacation period.

Selection
Applicants must be Australian citizens or have been granted Permanent Resident status by 31st October in the year preceding commencement of the Engineering qualification. The applicant's family must have lived in a rural or isolated area of Australia for four years of the applicant's high school studies and the applicant must have attended secondary school in a rural or isolated area for at least four years. Rural areas will be considered according to the Commonwealth's Accessibility/RemotenessIndex of Australia (ARIA) and the Rural, Remote and Metropolitan Areas (RRMA) classification. Applicants must be completing the NSW HSC (or equivalent examination) in the year of the application or the previous year (but must not have commenced tertiary study). Students undertaking other qualifying programs such as the University Preparation Program (UPP) or TAFE courses are not eligible for this Scholarship. Applicants must be proposing to undertake full-time study in the first year of the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering at UNSW. Applicants will be assessed on academic merit, aptitude and commitment to the preferred program of study, and personal qualities. Financial disadvantages may also be taken into account. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend for an interview.
