Outline

The Faculty of Science has been coordinating a successful Vacation Research Scheme since 2001.

The Vacation Research Scholarship provides an excellent research opportunity for Science undergraduate students to experience working in a research environment.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents or New Zealand Citizens or students who currently hold a Temporary Resident Visa; and
  • Undergraduate students in their penultimate (second last) year of a Science or a related discipline.

For the duration of the Scholarship, all recipients must:

  • Be enrolled at UNSW. Successful Non-UNSW students will be enrolled in Program 6006 - Visiting Student Program and in the course code REGS9002. They can be issued with UNSW student cards for the duration of their Vacation Research; and
  • Be completing a project on a full-time basis; and
  • Can only hold ONE such scholarship at one time.

Students who were previously awarded a similar type of scholarship awarded by Science and other faculties at UNSW are not eligible.

Selection

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic merit
  • perceived aptitude and commitment for research in a science discipline
    • Answers to the additional questions

Scholarship holders must submit a written report to the supervisors of their research upon completion. A certificate will be awarded to students who have successfully completed their projects.
