A number of Fulbright Scholarships for postgraduate study or research in the United States are available to Australian scholars in the following areas:- The Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Agriculture and Life Sciences (sponsored by Kansas State University) is the inaugural Fulbright Distinguished Chair Scholarship for an exceptional Australian Scholar to carry out research at Kansas State University in the United States of America. This Scholarship supports a 5-6 month program.
- The Fulbright Senior Scholarships is for academics (generally at Associate Professor or Professor level) to undertake research or teaching at a U.S. institution. This Scholarship supports a 3-4 month program.
- The Fulbright Professional Scholarships is for aspiring mid-career professionals in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors to undertake training or research programs in the U.S. The Scholarship is also open to people based in academic institutions whose primary research focus is professional or industry based, i.e. CRC or research institutes. This Scholarship supports a 3-4 month program.
- The Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholarships is for successful researchers who have completed their PhD in the past two to three years (up to five years under extenuating circumstances) to undertake postdoctoral research in the U.S. This Scholarship supports a 3-10 month program.
- The Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarships is for promising postgraduate students to complete their Australian PhD; to undertake research and/or study in any field that supports a PhD; or to support enrolment in a U.S. postgraduate program such as a Masters. This Scholarship supports an 8-10 month program.
- The Fulbright-Anne Wexler Masters Scholarship in Public Policy will enable Australian postgraduate students with strong academic credentials and leadership potential to undertake a Masters degree the United States in an area that supports Mrs Wexler’s binational interests in the field of public policy. These may include, but are not limited, to key areas such as health, sustainability, education, energy, climate change, regional security political science, history or governmental relations.
- The Fulbright Scholar in Residence program provides the opportunity for an Australian academic to teach at a U.S. community or liberal arts college to help expand their international perspective and understanding. Applications and further information is available at CIES.
