Outline
The Landon-Smith Family Scholarship was established to encourage Indigenous Australians to undertake undergraduate study at UNSW and to contribute to the advancement of Indigenous communities throughout Australia.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an Australian Indigenous student who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;and
- Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) either:
- in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
- in the previous two years but must not have commenced any other university studies.
- Be commencing full-time undergraduate study (single or dual*) in any faculty.
- Submitted an Equity Scholarship application via UAC
* Enrolment in a dual degree in combination with one of these two degrees is also permissible, but the tenure of the scholarship will remain at a maximum of four years.
Selection
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
- Evidence of financial need, such as being in receipt of a means tested Centrelink benefit such as ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance or AUSTUDY.
- Social/economic circumstances which may impact on successful transition to university may also be considered.
- Academic merit in the form of an offer to study at UNSW Australia
- Personal qualities, (for example communication skills, evidence of leadership skills and/or teamwork, involvement in extra-curricular activities); potential to contribute to the advancement of the indigenous community throughout Australia.
Applicants must submit a UAC Undergraduate Equity Scholarship application by Wednesday, 13 December 2017.

Interviews are not required for this Scholarship
