Outline

This award is to encourage students interested in rural medicine to undertake a two week clinical placement in the Port Macquarie Hastings region. To be eligible, the applicants must be: • Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia • Enrolled in their first or second year MBBS at UNSW • Able and prepared to undertake a two week clinical placement in the Port Macquarie Hastings region during the 12 months in which they hold the scholarship.

Selection

The selection is based on a 1000 (maximum) word essay (please attach as a supporting document), double spaced and single sided, answering the following: “Rural Medical Practice in Australia – Advantages and Disadvantages”. Students should also submit proof of their enrolment at UNSW and an up to date CV. Students must supply UNSW Scholarships office with a written report on the benefit of the award within three months of completing the placement.
