Outline

The Ngoc Tram Nguyen Scholarship is a UNSW Law 40th Anniversary Scholarship that was established to support a socio-economically disadvantaged student who has completed their schooling in a non-selective, public secondary school located in South West Sydney in South Western Sydney. The scholarship will enable the recipient to undertake an undergraduate combined law or Juris Doctor degree.

The Scholarship will normally have a value of $5,000 per annum and will be awarded for the minimum duration of the recipient's degree which is five years for an undergraduate combined law degree or three years for a Juris Doctor degree.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be proposing to commence full-time undergraduate study in a combined Bachelor of Laws/Juris Doctor at UNSW; and

    If a high school leaver, the applicant must attain an HSC or equivalent score high enough to be eligible to enrol and be accepted into the combined Bachelor of Laws degree program at UNSW. Applicants will be able to utilise any bonus points for which they are eligible in order to gain entry to the combined Bachelor of Laws program at UNSW.

    Applicants must provide their most recent academic statements (e.g. year 11 &12 school reports in their supporting documentation. Applicants must have completed their schooling in a non-selective, public secondary school located in South West Sydney, as defined by the NSW Department of Education & Training.

    Selection

    Candidates will be considered on the basis of their UAC Equity online application.

    Each applicant must be experiencing low socio economic circumstances and will be assessed on their eligibility to demonstrate one or more of the following criteria:

    • Indigenous Australian
    • Long term medical condition/disability or ongoing affects of abuse
    • Carer responsibilities
    • Regional or remote disadvantages
    • Sole parent responsibilities

    Interviews are not required for this Scholarship
